A Water Year is the total amount of precipitation that falls over a location in a given year. For locations in the Northern Hemisphere, the Water Year runs from October 1st of a year through September 30th of the following year. Similarly, for locations in the Southern Hemisphere, the Water Year extends from July 1st of a year through June 30th of the next year.
